Windows XP supports CDRs and CDRWs. Its ability to burn CDs is relatively basic and many people will wind up enhancing it with another product – Easy CD Creator or Feurio or the like.
If you run Windows XP and have consistent problems burning CDs using the built-in software, this fix should take care of it.
Incidentally, my new Dell system arrived with Easy CD Creator already installed – a program I use a lot. But it didn’t take long before I discovered that the companion program DirectCD was also installed. DirectCD is intended to support CDRWs, but it has long been a buggy mess. In this case, it replaced the native abilities of Windows XP with its own useless features. Fortunately it uninstalls nicely.
