SBC has reduced the price of its basic DSL service to $26.95 for new customers signing up online. The service requires a one-year commitment, with a prepayment penalty.
That’s darned cheap service, and the low prices have persisted for long enough that it might reflect a permanent new price point instead of a temporary loss leader.
Keep in mind that Sonic has lowered its DSL prices recently as well to reflect SBC’s discounts, so you’d still rather call Sonic for service. There continue to be compelling reasons to avoid SBC DSL service, as I describe on this page.
