Every day I clean off adware, spyware, browser hijacking, viruses, Sasser worms, and other bad things. You are an unwilling participant in a war with spammers, virus writers, advertisers, and hackers.
Protecting your computer takes more than an antivirus program – although that’s part of the answer. I thought it might be helpful to write the Rules of Safe Computing. Study them. Unfortunately, they are mandatory, not optional.
Keeping your computer healthy requires a bit of effort. If you pay attention to the rules, you will happily get your work done when the newpaper reports the next wave of technology attacks.
If you ignore the rules, my children will attend fine Ivy League colleges – because I’ll have been in your homes and offices cleaning things up. The choice is yours!
