Microsoft updated its MSN Search Toolbar and quietly added tabbed browsing to Internet Explorer. With this enhancement, IE can open several web pages in a single window, allowing you to jump between them by clicking on a tab at the top of the window. Here’s an article about the update.
The Firefox community has been using tabbed browsing as the poster child for the superiority of the Firefox browser and an illustration of how far behind the times Internet Explorer had become. Presumably they’ll find something else to talk about now.
Personally, I didn’t switch to Firefox and I don’t think I’ll install this MSN toolbar. (I like the Google toolbar.) When I try to compare tabbed browsing to separate browser windows, I get sleepy. I find it really hard to care.
