Happy Thanksgiving from Bruceb Consulting! Remember to look up from your computer and smartphone and iPad and Kindle Fire on Thursday – your family and friends are right there hoping to spend some of that old-fashioned face time with you.
Friday is shopping time, right? Well, so the retailers want you to think. It’s all hype to create an artificial sense of urgency but maybe you’ll be caught up by an urge to spend money. If you sit at your computer to do it online, LastPass has an overlooked tool to make it easier: the Form Fill feature will help you fill in shipping and billing screens with a single click, along with filling in credit card information if you choose.
If you are a LastPass user, there is an extensive guide here that deserves a few minutes of attention. It takes no time to fill in your name and address information once, then have it available on web site checkout pages, usually presented with a yellow LastPass bar across the top of the page asking for permission to fill in the blanks.
You can create different profiles for work and home, and add multiple credit cards. All the information is encrypted using the strong security built into LastPass, then transferred to the LastPass servers where it will be available on all the computers tied into your LastPass account.
Be careful out there! Use LastPass to generate secure passwords, and don’t click on dodgy links as you look around for deals. Have as safe holiday and we’ll be back after the weekend with a busy end to the technology year!
I don’t think last pass is too safe to use shopping online, the company got hacked a couple months back.
I can’t think of very many companies that I trust more than LastPass. The hacking and the company’s reaction to it made me feel better, not worse. More details: http://www.brucebnews.com/2011/05/lastpass-is-hacked-change-your-master-password-but-dont-panic/
