I’ve used the same e-mail address for years. It’s listed on my web site and I’ve used it to subscribe to several mailing lists. That makes it a prime target for abuse – but I’m still appalled at what is going on.
I was out of my office for four days, from Friday morning until Monday afternoon.
I got 18 personal messages.
I got 597 messages identified as spam and moved to a separate folder.
I got 124 messages that were spam but missed by my anti-spam program.
I got approximately 2,000 messages generated by the Sobig virus.
I got 115 messages relating to the Sobig virus – generally other systems advising me that “my” mail had a virus or could not be delivered.
Death is too kind a punishment for the people doing this to us.
