Microsoft will begin delivered Service Pack 2 to XP Home Edition users with Automatic Update turned on in a few days, but it has delayed delivery to XP Professional users until the week of August 25. Here’s an article explaining that corporate customers asked for more time before it begins rolling into their offices.
Microsoft also published a list of fifty programs that are adversely affected by Service Pack 2 in some way, based on the first couple of weeks of experience with the service pack in its final form. The list is good news for almost all of us – there are no programs on it that home users or small businesses depend on.
Strangely, there’s no word yet from Symantec on when its products will be updated so they can report to the Windows Security Center that antivirus protection is up to date.
