Windows Live OneCare continues to be one of the most satisfying products in years – the design is elegant and glitches have been few and far between.
For that reason, I don’t expect to spend any time with the competitors this year – they’ve been thoroughly outclassed. But for what it’s worth, McAfee has just introduced its own subscription service, “McAfee Total Protection.” Here’s an article about the product launch. I can’t help but chuckle that the author of the article can’t really comment on the McAfee product because he had to uninstall the beta after running into too many problems – slowing e-mail to a crawl, blue screens and shutdowns, incomplete removal of malware, and the like. Oh, and it costs twice as much as Windows Live OneCare, a hundred bucks for three computers.
