OneStat.com reported yesterday that Windows XP is responsible for almost 87 percent of all Web usage, while all Windows versions combined account for 97 percent of Web usage. These days that’s a fair measure of an operating system’s market share.
The second most popular OS on the Web is Windows 2000, at more than six percent. Third place goes to Windows 98, with 2.68%.
And proudly showing up in fourth place, with less than 2.5% of the market, is: the Mac OS, with a market share virtually unchanged from previous years. Steve Jobs claims Apple is gaining market share, but that’s only true in a handful of closely-defined markets (“retail sales of notebook computers in the US,” say).
Good news for Apple, though – it trounces Windows ME. Way to go, lads!
